Safety
Kent ISD coordinates Safety, Violence & Bully Prevention Education services for Kent, Ionia and Montcalm Counties.
Safety Education
Safety Education is part of the Michigan Model for Health for students K-12. The materials and lesson plans were guided by the Centers for Disease Control and aligned with national and state standards. The curriculum is part of the Michigan-recommended school curriculum for students K-12. Professional development, technical assistance and resources are available for participating schools.
Bully Prevention
Bully Prevention is a new state mandate requiring schools to provide instruction in the following: how to define and identify characteristics of a bully, how to avoid bullying situations, and proactive management of a bullying situation. The law provides a framework for educators to identify curriculum that meets the needs of the individual districts. The Michigan Model for Health offers lessons to meet the state mandate.
Reproductive Health Institute
The Reproductive Health Institute, sponsored by Kent ISD, promotes the development of positive relationships, prevention of sexual assault and violence.
